Robert Hearty, son of Robert and Mary (nee McCabe) Hearty, was born Mar. 28, 1893, in the townland of Hammondstown, Co. Louth, Ireland. Well, more accurately, Robert Hearty and Mary (nee McCabe) Gilpin would have been half cousins. Mary's father, Patrick McCabe, was a son of Henry McCabe and his first wife, Rose (nee Byrnes) McCabe. Robert Hearty's mother, Mary (nee McCabe) Hearty, was a daughter of Henry McCabe and his second wife, Margaret (nee Toris) McCabe.

Marriage
After returning to Co. Louth, Robert Hearty, son of Robert and Mary (nee McCabe) Hearty, married a woman named Anne McEvoy.
