EBBITTS OF THE DUNLEER AREA OF CO. LOUTH

There were people with a last name of Ebbitt in the Dunleer area of Co. Louth as far back as the year 1783. I don't know if there was any direct blood relationship between the Mary Ebbitt who married Alexander McCabe, and the Thomas Ebbitt who married Mary Campbell. It does appear that one of the witnesses at the Alexander McCabe and Mary Ebbitt marriage was a person named Thomas Ebbitt. I'm sure the Thomas Ebbitt that married Mary Campbell was *not* the same Thomas Ebbitt that was the Alexander McCabe/Mary Ebbitt marriage witness. But, I don't believe that rules out a direct Ebbitt blood relationship. I am certain the Catherine Ebbitt that married Peter Flanagan *was* a daughter of Thomas Ebbitt and Mary (nee Campbell) Ebbitt.

I have seen other Ebbitt couples in the Dunleer parish church records. I have listed below four other Ebbitt couples I have noticed. I may, at some point, look into the details of the marriages and offspring of these Ebbitts.
