Owen Finnegan / Catherine O'Brien/Brien
Intro
There was a couple named Owen and Catherine (nee O'Brien/Brien) Finnegan, living in Co. Meath, Ireland, in the early to mid-1800s. I am not certain of the exact townland where the Owen and Catherine (nee O'Brien/Brien) Finnegan family lived. The Catholic baptism records I have obtained for this family are from the Catholic church in the townland of Lobinstown. Lobinstown is located in the Co. Meath civil parish of Killary. I would think Owen and Catherine (nee O'Brien/Brien) Finnegan and their family lived within a few miles of Lobinstown. I have obtained some more recent records for descendants of Owen and Catherine (nee O'Brien/Brien) Finnegan. Those more recent records include records from both the townlands of Hoardstown and Hopkinstown. Both Hoardstown and Hopkinstown are also in the civil parish of Killary. So, even though I am not certain of the exact townland where the Owen and Catherine (nee O'Brien/Brien) Finnegan family lived, it seems they were certainly living within the civil parish of Killary.
Owen and Catherine (nee O'Brien/Brien) Finnegan are relevant to my McCabe family research effort as their grandson James Finnegan married a woman named Mary Maguire. The Mary Maguire that James Finnegan married was a granddaughter of my great aunt and uncle, Margaret (nee Murphy) and John McCabe. "My" John and Margaret (nee Murphy) McCabe family lived in the towland of Knockaleva, in the civil parish of Mosstown, in Co. Louth. Mary Maguire was living with her parents, Christopher and Elizabeth (nee McCabe) Maguire, and siblings, in the civil parish of Collon, in Co. Louth, when she married James Finnegan.
Note, though I have seen a number of different spellings, I am trying to consistently use just one spelling of the name Finnegan. Also note, though I have seen more than one spelling of the name, I have decided to consistantly spell the first name of Owen's wife as Catherine. I have also included two spellings of Catherine's maiden name, O'Brien, and Brien. As with other Irish names, sometimes the O' is used, and sometimes it isn't.
Offspring
Owen and Catherine (nee O'Brien/Brien) Finnegan had eight children I am currently aware of. I have listed those children in the table below. To browse any additional info I have obtained and posted to the internet for any of Owen and Catherine (nee O'Brien/Brien) Finnegan's children, click on the links in the table.
I continued reviewing the available Catholic baptism records from the church in Lobinstown through the end of the year 1845. With no other children being baptized after the baptism of their son John in November of 1841, through the end of 1845, I decided not to continue searching for any additional Owen and Catherine (nee O'Brien/Brien) Finnegan children beyond 1845.
