Owen Gartlan, son of Patrick and Anne (nee Cummiskey) Gartlan, left his Irish homeland and immigrated to the United States. Owen traveled from Liverpool, England to the US aboard the ship SS Carmania. The particular voyage of the SS Carmania that Owen sailed on departed the port of Liverpool, England, on August 25, 1923 and arrived at the port of Boston, MA, USA on September 2, 1923. Owen stated his intention was to join his brother, Thomas Gartlan, in Newcastle, PA. Owen Gartlan eventually settled in the Bronx, in New York.
