Marriage
Peter Finnegan, son of Patrick and Rose (nee McCabe) Finnegan, married a woman named Margaret Goodman, daughter of John and Catherine (Cunningham) Goodman, on October 8, 1890, in Philadelphia, PA. Peter and Margaret were both living in Philadelphia when they were married. On October 6, 1890, two days before their wedding, Peter Finnegan appeared before the Clerk of the Orphans' Court, in Philadelphia, to obtain a marriage license for him to marry Maggie Goodman. Maggie Goodman was only 18 years old when she married. Being underage, Maggie needed approval from a parent/guardian to get married. Maggie's parents were living in Ireland and were not available to give their approval. Maggie petitioned the Orphans' Court to assign a guardian who would be able to consent to her marriage. I have obtained a copy of Maggie's petition and the subsequent marriage consent form provided by Maggie's court appointed guardian.
