Marriage
Joseph Lauer, son of George and Catherine (nee xxx) Lauer, married Minnie Murphy, daughter of Dennis Murphy and Mary (nee Vale/Veal/Veale) Murphy. George and Minnie were married on September 28, 1881, in Philadelphia, PA. The date of their marriage comes from two Philadelphia newspaper articles, one from the Philadelphia Inquirer, and one from the The Times. Both articles mention Joseph and Minnie's marriage, but both articles were primarily about a ruckus that occurred at the post wedding party. I have obtained, through my sister-in-law, Jan McCabe, a copy of both articles. To view a copy of the articles I have obtained, click here.
Offspring
Joseph and Minnie (nee Murphy) Lauer had two children. I have listed those children in the table below. To browse any additional information I have posted to the internet for either of the individual children, click on the links in the table.

Lauer Family Census Records
The 1900 US Federal Census for Philadelphia, PA includes information on Joseph and Minnie Lauer. Joseph Lauer's name is not really legible on the obtained copy. The microfilm copy was barely legible enough to confirm that the census information was for a Joseph Lauer. The census form clearly shows a wife named Minnie, a son named John, and a daughter named Katie. This census form is very important, as it also shows another family living in the same house. The head of the second household is a man named Michael Murphy. The census form shows Michael's wife Mary and a child named Francis. Francis is listed on the census form as Michael and Mary Murphy's daughter! The address of the home was 1912 N. 4th street. You can access the Dennis Murphy and descendants, including Joseph and Minnie Lauer, U.S. Federal census selector page by clicking here.
Philadelphia City Directories
I have done a search of various Philadelphia City Directories. I searched the directories for the name Lauer, as well as, the name Louer. I have posted several of the directory pages here on my web site. You may access my Joseph and Minnie (nee Murphy) Lauer and Related Families Philadelphia City Directories selector page by clicking here.
The Joseph Laure Philadelphia city directories for 1879, 1880, and 1881 show Joseph Lauer living at 2213 Pemberton, the home of his parents. Each of those directories lists his occupation as laborer. The next entries for Joseph Lauer appear in the 1885 and 1886 directories. The 1885 and 1886 directories both list his last name as Louer, and his address as 510 St. John. They also both list his occupation as spinner. The Joseph Lauer Philadelphia city directory for 1900 shows Joseph Lauer's occupation as being a spinner, with his address being 1912 N. 4th street. The 1912 N. 4th street address is the same address as the Joseph Lauer 1900 Federal census record. It is also the same address as the 1901 city directory listing for a Mr. Michael Murphy! I'm sure the Michael Murphy is Joseph Lauer's brother-in-law.
