John's stated final destination was his uncle Dr. Nicholas McCabe's place in North Platte, Nebraska, USA. It is not clear if John ever actually traveled to North Platte.
John was living in New York City, in September of 1910, when his brother James arrived in the U.S.
At some point in time, John returned to Ireland.

John Maguire traveled to the U.S. John made his way to the U.S. through Canada. John arrived in Canada on the ship S. S. Virginian, in March of 1910. The particular voyage of the S. S. Virginian John traveled on, arrived at the ports of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and St. John, New Brunswick on March 11, 1910. It is not clear if John disembarked in Halifax, or St. John.
