Birth/Baptism
I have obtained a copy of the baptism record for a Mary Murphy, who was a daughter of Dennis and Mary (nee Vale/Veal/Veale) Murphy, of Ballydeague, Co. Cork, Ireland. I believe this Mary Murphy was one of my great aunts, though I have no direct information, at this time, tying this Mary Murphy to my Dennis and Mary Murphy family listed in the 1870 and 1880 Philadelphia, PA census records. Mary Murphy, daughter of Dennis and Mary (nee Vale/Veal/Veale) Murphy, died March 19, 1880, in Philadelphia, PA. Mary's death is recorded on page 99 of the 1880 Death Register for the city of Philadelphia, PA. I have obtained a copy of the Mary A. Murphy Philadelphia death register record. Murphy Philadelphia death register record I have obtained, click on right side. Notification of Mary A. Murphy's death appeared in The Philadelphia Record newspaper. Murphy's death notice invited relatives and friends of the family to her funeral at the residence of her parents house. The address given was the known Dennis and Mary (Vale/Veal/Veale) Murphy address, 225 North Front Street. Mary A. Murphy, daughter of Dennis Murphy and Mary (nee Vale/Veal/Veale) Murphy, was buried in New Cathedral Cemetery, on Monday, March 22, 1880. The burial date on the Philadelphia Death Register record is March 24th. Even with the difference in burial dates, I am sure the two records are for the same Mary Murphy.
