John Nicholas McCabe, son of Dr. Nicholas F. and Mary (nee O'Connor) McCabe, was born in Nebraska, September 19, 1901, according to his death certificate. John Nicholas probably spent most of his younger years in North Platte, NE. John Nicholas, like his older brother Clarence, attend Notre Dame University. John Nicholas graduated, with a degree in Journalism, in 1924. He went on to teach journalism at Mount Angle Seminary in Oregon and at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
